KaBOOM! and CNN's Fit Nation

CNN's Fit Nation and KaBOOM! teamed up with over 200 volunteers to build a playground for the children of Metairie, Louisiana. Metairie was one many cities destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

Active Children

It is great what they did for the children of Metairie. It will help get these children more active and get them away from the video games, the television, and the Internet. Increased activity is one of the best strategies to prevent and cure childhood obesity.

The CNN Fit Nation team has inspired me. I am going to research KaBOOM! and try to get some playgrounds built in the Atlanta/Decatur area.

Watch the video about the playground building.

This is a great idea and great initiative Dr Kal! As a person who struggled with weight as a child (and still does as an adult), I always think about how fitness is going to be built into the lives of my future children. I do not want them to go through what I did so the more we can encourage kids to stay active, since they are not getting it in school as much, would be great!

Thanks,
Shayna

Don't worry Shayna. Organizations such as KaBOOM! will provide every opportunity for your future children to get and remain active.
